My Stab at a Blog

My friend Cameron called to tell me this weekend that she started a blog - The Adorned Abode at http://adornedabode.blogspot.com/ if you want to check it out. I had been thinking about starting my own blog for a while. Lately I have found myself reading blogs in the morning with my latte and since I have so much time on my hands being a stay-at-home wife -aka "bungalow bum"- I decided if my friend can do one, why can't I?

A quick little bit about me: I used to be a teacher but decided to take a more relaxed life-style and just do some subbing until we figured out what was happening with my husband's job (all of this took place during the financial crisis - my husband works at the bank). Anyways, a year and half later it turns out his job was (and hopefully still is) safe and we're still in Charlotte. As you can imagine, I've come to enjoy my new job of "stay-at-home wife". A lot of people wonder, "don't you get bored?" or tell me "I could never do that," but I love it! Probably more surprisingly is that my husband loves it, too! Elton no longer comes home to a stressed out wife and he has breakfast made for him each morning and a healthy lunch packed for work. He also ends his day with a home-cooked meal (if he makes it home in time for dinner). This new career change has given me a lot of great opportunities: I've taken golf lessons, gotten into hot yoga, received my real estate license, and learned how to sew. Hot yoga is on hold right now since I'm pregnant and I'm sad to admit I haven't touched my golf clubs since this summer, but I've really enjoyed sewing. I'm sure I'll write a lot about my sewing projects on this blog and hopefully it may inspire you to get a sewing machine and begin your own projects -it's really easy and a lot of fun! I also love to cook so you'll read a lot about new recipes I've tried, foods I've found, and ways I try to stay healthy being a food addict. When I'm not cooking, cleaning (my least favorite part of being a "stay-at-home-wife"), sewing, or working out, I like to volunteer around Charlotte -working mostly with kids. I miss being around students every day so I love to tutor and help out in classrooms that need extra help - which they always do!

Anyways, that's enough about me. I hope you enjoy my attempt at a blog and I hope I enjoy yet another new opportunity for me. If you see a lot of posts that means I'm having fun - even if I don't have any followers. :) Happy reading!
